To Defenestrate a Codex

Looks like I've been gone for a while. I guess you could say I took an unintentional break from writing in that time. I need to start finding a schedule and routine for doing this stuff again. It's important to me, and as such, I had ought to make time to do it everyday just to make it a habit.

Anyways, here's a little something inspired by today's prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge. Hope you enjoy!

Under the Sinister Sunlight

(I'm still trying to get back into the habit of writing everyday. Being home again is nice, but it comes with a lot more distractions than I was hoping. Anyways, here's my response to today's prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge. The challenge words are found in bold. Give CCC a visit. It's a fun little place to hang out for a few minutes on Mondays and Thursdays.)

Under the sinister sunlight in the American southwest, a man scoured the desert ruins in hoping of finding something, anything, which would give proof of them being there. He had heard the natives believed in an intelligence not of this world. If they hadn't come from here, where, then, were they from? What message were they trying to leave behind? Why did they choose to come here, to this purgatory on Earth? One didn't have to go far to find a true paradise. Maybe they were searching for some balance. Perhaps they wanted to show the natives they could live here as well. All that was left here now were the remains of the natives and the influence of these ghost-people who were not people. If only he could find something covered by time which would trace back to them. But that is the greatest tragedy of all. Time was his enemy. She covered and decayed what previous generations have left for us. It was as if time held a grudge against him for living only in the present, for she lived in the past and future as well. But as an archeologist, he had learned to see through time how these people had themselves lived in their own present. It had become somewhat of an art for him. It taught him many things. What this and that finding were used for. What that drawing signified. Even why they used certain pottery more than others. However, his greatest lesson through time is this: If anything should survive generation to generation, it will be enduring love. Technology and religion get lost in time, but love of family and friends is timeless.

Finished Resolution

(I'm back. Here's my response to today's prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge. It's a little lame, but the words were tough. Again, the challenge words are found in bold. Give it a visit. It's a fun little place to visit on Mondays and Thursdays.)

With the resolution finished, the arbitration could finally dissolve. Regulations on masterbationwould limit the amounted of members admitted into the program, but the matriculation could now carry on. Previous saturation of entries into the program had worried administrators, and theexacerbation of complaints of those not admitted led to the stimulation for need of a resolution on those with a fixation on masterbation. And the negative personification of the arbitration gave much elation to many of those denied admission.

Roger's Box, Episode 4

(Episode four of Roger's Box. I'm either a day late or a few hours late in writing this. I guess it all depends on where you are in the world. But I wrote this up for yesterday's writing prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge. Hope you guys are getting more and more curious about what's in the box, or what the box even is. Right now, we're still finding out about what the mechanical box is and how Roger even got his hands on it. So far we know it comes from NefariCorps. And Roger and Katie are there right now. Let's go join them and find out more about the story.)

Roger's Box, Episode 3

Shane Arthur of Creative Copy Challenge has inspired me to stick to writing a series from his word challenges for each of his posts instead of writing a bunch of different stories. So here's a new entry for today's challenge. We learn more about Roger's dealings with the box, but still nothing of the box itself. Hope you guys enjoy!

Roger's Box, Pt. 2

Here's a continuation of a story I began on Monday. I used the challenge words from today's prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge as inspiration. As you know, if you follow me or CCC, the words in bold are the challenge words. Read and enjoy!

Roger could hear the mechanical whiz originating from the other side of the door. He wanted to touch it. He wanted to play with it. His shiny little toy. It finally opened. But he couldn't He had things to do. Meetings and the like. Poor guy. He was so close, yet so very, very far away. He put it out of mind.

Roger's Box

Here is a little story from today's writing prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge. I think you guys should know the rules by now. Words in bold are the words of the day.

No matter how hard Roger tried, he could claw the box open. Something wouldn’t let him do it. He’d seen it open before. But he didn’t have such luck. No, he would have to be patient and wait for the right person to do it.
He returned to his square, and sure enough, Katie was standing right there.

“Where the hell have you been?” she yelped at him.

“Just out, having a little smoke break,” sniffled Roger. He was never the type who fared well with confrontation.

“Well, hurry up then. Change your clothes. You can’t wear those random ragtags at the meeting,” said Katie as she pulled at his shirt.
“Can’t I have a little to eat first? Smoking always makes me hungry.”

“Sure, but here’s a little tip: Eat fast. We have a deadline to meet. And you are just wasting time. Come on.” Katie was getting a little impatient.

“Look, you only have to ask me once to hurry up and I’ll do it. Quit pressuring me and I’ll go faster,” Roger quipped, trying to sound more defiant.

“Roger, I don’t want to upset you, but you need me here to rush you. Now come on, come on. Let’s go.” Now she was getting irritated, and Roger could see it in her face. He started to pace himself a little faster.
Then he heard a noise from the storage closet, and he thought about the box. Maybe it opened itself…

The Harvester

(I wrote this piece for Monday's writing prompt over at Creative Copy Challenge as well. I felt the other one was too brief and I'm getting back a little bit of creativity now, so I figured it wouldn't hurt to post twice. Hope you all enjoy this one just as much if not even more.)
