[WoD] Outsource Some of Your Chores

We're just about a day away from entering NaNoWriMo season, and we will all face the same basic problem: there's just not enough time to get everything done. So today I want to take a page from the playbook of the business world. Let's look at taking some of the burden off ourselves. Try outsourcing. Businesses use it to save time and money everyday, and if you use it wisely, you can too.

The first thing you will have to do is let your roommates, family members, and/or friends know that you are going to be having a busy month, and ask them if they'd be willing to help you out a little here, just so that they know ahead of time that you will be asking for favors from them. This way, when you feel like you're running a little behind or a little short on time, you could ask them for a little help with doing the dishes, doing laundry, making some food, running to the store, or some other little task.

Don't give them do too much of your work, though. Remember, there is no such thing as a free lunch. Try to set up a system so that each time someone else does a chore for you, you will do it back for them after November is over. This way your family and friends will be more likely to help you out when you need it. If at all possible try to print out IOU dollars that you can hand out to your friends and family that they can redeem after NaNoWriMo is over. A month can be a long time to remember, after all, and this way they'll have a little bit of proof that you need to do something for them.

It can be a fun thing to do, and you could even carry on with the tradition after the month is over if you liked it well enough.
