[WoD] Take a Break

We're ten days into NaNoWriMo now, and that means that we just passed the one third mark. How does it feel to be a third done with your novel? Pretty good? Or are you becoming your novel's slave? Make sure you don't let that happen. It only leads to stress and more stress and then eventually panic. And there's a way to prevent that though. Take breaks occasionally and let your brain cool off. It may be receiving a larger workload than it is accustomed to.

And if you are stressing out, there was a great article over at Lifehacker today that you should check out. The article mentions some of the best methods to prevent and deal with stress, which could be considered a distant cousin of distraction, at least in my book.

Even if you aren't stressing out, you should take breaks. Not for that long. Just ten to fifteen minutes. Or play a quick round of a video game that you like or something. As long as it's not that long, you should be ok. Once in a while you may find that distracting your brain just for a little while can be beneficial in the long run.
